Anyone has the hatching pattern in svg for "insulation" layer?

Post by ragohix769 »

Anyone has some Hatch for insulation in *.pat or *.svg (better) ready to be inserted in TD?

I say something like this:

Image

[I know I can make it in Inkscape from scratch, but maybe someone has already done that]

[anyway, I think as basic hatching tool, this pattern, like roofs, should be added in the basic hatching patterns in FC and of course in TD]
After #ElonMuskBuyTwitter I'm no more on Twitter, that's really enough :-(

Hej Rago :)

I was doing some isulation for windows (buldings). I have it in DWG. It will be nice if we add it to next revision.

I have one more re quest - can you add honey-six-square to library - its also isolation for buldings/balcony

Best regards

This is probably quite difficult to implement. The scale and the angle of the pattern would have to adept to the angle of the insulation.

I'm not expert but there are some DWG to SVG exporters

You all right: I think in TD an "angle" tool to rotate hatching patterns, it's mandatory (in the new DraftWB Hatch tool teaser made by Yorik it's present, that's right :-) )

"Scale" tool for what I see, is already present (in the hatch by image and even in geometric vectorial Hatch tool)

You underestimate the complexity. The area to be hatched would have to be analyzed and split up into separate sections.

But you say that because this tool should work in TD space (that it's "strange" as I undestand), or in general for hatching a surface?

Because in the Hatching tool in Draft made by Yorik recently, there all these things (angle, scale, etc etc it's still not working ok)

[In the image above i'd like to have the insulation pattern in the *.PAT file, but I cannot find it anyware and/or even to insert from SVG made with Inkscape]

In your example you have an L shape that is a single contour both for a Draft hatch and a TD hatch. For the insulation pattern this contour needs to be split into two contours. Each has to be hatched separately, with a scale and angle derived from the contour.

A quick test with 2 PAT files shows that the current FreeCAD implementation is limited. Complex patterns (with dashed lines) are not yet supported. This means that f.e. a hexagon pattern is currently not possible.

Edit: Some PAT patterns with dashed lines do work.
