No centers, not what you all think.

Post by Chia_Pet »

So Im trying to add multiple parts to the same Page sheet.

a single Part works fine, all my centers show up etc.

but here's the problem.

If I make view from an assembly (A2plus V.4.54b), and pick the original part brought into the assembly first, it shows the centers for holes.

If I then bring in another part, the centers are gone. For that part only.

If I have say 3 parts in my assembly. I then activate all three parts and hit "insert a view" All three parts will show up in one view, but only original part will have centers, other 2 will not.

anyone got any idea how to fix this?

I'm trying to get multiple small parts on one Page, not make a Page for each Part which is a waste of time.

Edit for clarity:
Tech draw preferences: Show Center Marks and Print Center Marks = Checked

View tab: Arc centers = true

Is ArcCenterMarks=True for all views? You find it in the View properties.

Some of them may be recognized as ellipses. Can you check that? You can select the circle and create a diameter dimension. If it is an ellipse you will see a corresponding message.

So yes, that is happening.

so this is what i did this morning.

opened up the 3 parts in an assembly.

no constraints, just placed by hand.

Created a page, picked the parts, they came in fine and had centers.

Because the parts were not all "face up", I then constrained the parts to the Part that was face up.
I constrained them first with a Plane coincident to the Face of first part, effectively flipping the part and ensuring all parts are on exact same plane.
I then did 2 more similar constraints ensuring they were perpendicular to the first part and on same planes as well so parts are fully constrained in X, Y, and Z.

I then update view in Techdraw, and the 2 other parts lose their centers, and get the ellipse you stated.

Next thing i did, was to add the parts in new and position them solely with Transform tool.

This corrected my current issue, however, the problem persists with constrained parts, meaning it will rear its head with any actual Page with multiple parts combined into a whole.

So, ez, no joke, not easy, but tricky one.

I thought this, but i want not make a guess in the blue. The positions are not precise enough. When i look in the directions of the parts, there is a minus before the zero, this means it is not zero, so the parts are a little bit twistet. When i correct them per hand, the marks appear.

note: i have not the assembly add-on, so my tree looks a little bit different.
