[TD] Suggestion for centerline improvement

Post by balrobs »

When I add a centerline to a detail-view and extend it with the extend-line tool I notice that it's possible to extend it over the round draw-limits of the detail view. When doing so I see an interrupted centerline and an increased rectangular detail frame.
I would expect the centerlines not to exceed the round draw-limits and not to influence the size of the rectangular detail frame.

Do my expectations make sense?
Kind regards

Sort of. On the other side: don't do it and everything is ok.

I don't have a sensible application at hand, but I can imagine some alignment where it can be sensible to align center lines across views.

Thanks @chrisb for your answer.

The reason why I did it was to optain a better looking detail view.
Take my detail 2 as an example. When I select the two external vertical lines of the column and apply the extend-cosmetic-line comand with a default Extend-By value of 3,00 mm I end up with this:

Extending the centerline below the plate would make the detail clearer ... the centerline could belong also to the plate and the anchors.
But when I do so I encounter the already mentioned problem:

As a workaround I thought to use 3 centerlines. One for the column, another for the plate and the last for the anchors but this seems very cumbersome to me
Cheers
