[solved] strange symbols on wiki page TechDraw_Geometric_dimensioning_and_tolerancing

Post by david69 »

on TechDraw_Geometric_dimensioning_and_tolerancing, go to § Symbol reference, there are three cabalistic symbols for Cylindricity/Symmetry/Total run-out.

we find them on Crowdin too.

is it normal or mistakes?

AFAIK, they are valid symbols - see https://www.gdandtbasics.com/gdt-symbols/

Not all fonts will have a glyph for these symbols.

As Wanderfan tried to explain: it depends on the font used to render the page.

Yes, it is normal. It means that the font does not have a glyph for that unicode code point. I'm not sure what font is used in the wiki.

Too slow again. Roy_043 beat me to it.

so it depends on the specified fonts of the navigator, and same explanations on Crowdin.
FYI, currently, here is my setup on warterfox/firefox.

Neither DejaVuSans nor LiberationSans have a glyph for u232D.

The Wiki uses a font family:

Code: Select all

html, body {
  font-family: sans-serif;
}
