Off topic here, but it was discussed concerning animated gifs vs. video.
The link shows wonderful usage for animated gifs, that's what they are made for. But mostly not for tutorial usage.

Two new pages have been added for assemblies:
About the PointOnLine constraint, with recent versions of asm3, the normal of a plane and the revolving axis of cylindrical surface can both be used as a 'Line'. In other word, for the second element of a PointOnLine constraint, you can simply use a cylindrical face, or the circular edge of the cylindrical face, or the circular edge of the sketch that creates the groove, and there is no need for an auxiliary sketch or manual setting of an offset.
Try Assembly3 (latest version 0.10.2) along with my custom build of FreeCAD at here.

As soon as I've developed a technique, I'll replace some gif images with small videos (hopefully!).
But if you've had a look at the animations in the PartDesign examples, they'll only play once when the mouse over the image, they do not see themselves at rest, and they are slow. This is not enough but ...

OK, it's rectified. I did not have time to test the latest updates !

Next goal: simple assemblies.

Excellent tutorial, JPG.... Very well laid out, nice flow to the presentation, and fabulous animated diagrams. I also learned that "soustractive is french for "subtractive". I thought it was a recurring typo at first, then I finally determined that it was French.

This is a beautifully designed intro to FreeCAD. Thank you for putting in the time to develop this.
