structurized drawing and A2plus WB with tutorial under construction
Hello,
the A2+ WB allowes me to structurize my drawings.
I draw all the rooms in my house with transparency cubes as placeholders. Also all parts in the rooms have this placeholders.
With this placeholders (Master Sketches) the rooms were be constrained to the house and the parts inner the rooms are be constrained to the rooms.
Switch on and of what i will see: Walk in the room and switch on and off anything there: (to be continued... )

Re: structurized drawing with A2+ WB
Hi Yorik,
great stuff you have!!!
I began on last monday (4,02.2019) to thinking how can i structurice my ideas and drawings between the real and virtuell world...
My documentation began here with my workroom: (sorry in german)
https://bastler-treffpunkt.de/thread-pr ... 5#pid53145
On Wednesday morning i found the solution. BIM and LOD that's it! I began to measure all the rooms and on Thursday morning the house was built virtuell:
https://bastler-treffpunkt.de/thread-pr ... 7#pid53147
At Thursday afternoon i began to fill the workroom with real things in there and with things i will build now. A container under the table:
https://bastler-treffpunkt.de/thread-pr ... 1#pid53251
After then it goes very fast! The goal was the thinking between my little world (my house) and the global word.
my world:
All the things i will build or i have builded
global world:
all the things i can buy
Also the directory tree for the files was created with this thinking.
The root directory was named 'global'
After them i create a directory 'warehouse' with things i can download. STEP's, PDF's, JPEG's and all information off any screw or what you think...
And at the same level a directory 'House_A' with all the things in it...
I can build the next house named 'House_B' with all the things in it.
I can copy and paste all the things between this houses or when i will go to the house B i can take all the parts out of the house A to the house B.
This was an easy way to build a database of all to handle all the information's, files, drawings or what you want
Yes, this is an easy way to have your own BIM and LOD...
But let us thinking a little bit more, let us thinking global
My 'filesystem-database' could be a SQL-Server... with global informations and local informations...
You can walk through this world from the greatest building or factory to every part of things and/or to all informations you will have.
Ok Yorik, tell us more from your thinking about BIM's and LOD's.

Re: structurized drawing with A2+ WB
Sorry paullee.
LOD: Level of Detail: https://www.designingbuildings.co.uk/wi ... il_for_BIM
WB: WorkBench
A2+ is a workbench to assemble parts: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=29207

Thanks indeed!
I should be aware of that + is A2+, rather than 'and'
But how LOD is helping in the usecase, could you elaborate slightly?

Re: structurized drawing with A2+ WB
Hello Paullee,
The LOD helps to handle big drawings with
huge information.
Let us take a look to the workroom and to the controller of my CNC router:
(This room and the parts in it looks very simple, but it isn't) This Controller in the workroom has around 40 drawings, subassemblies, 18 gCode-Files, Informations of any screw and nuts with how doese it cost / where do it come from / what is it for a screw etc, all the Files for KiCAD for the PCB are there, PCB-File, sheet-File, gerber-Files etc
The database of the controller have 106MB, 387 Files, 24 Folders...
Ok. That is the little controller on the table
But in this room there is more... for example the CNC Router i build... also over 300 Files
These are two parts in my house i build by my self with his data
Now let us thinking about big buildings, a factory, trucks, big ships, infrastructure: streets, railways, airport and so on...
How will you handle that huge information? When you have all these information in one file you must have a very big PC
The answer is: split it. The BIM an LOD technics helpes to handle it.

Re: structurized drawing with A2+ WB
Thanks for the detailed explanation! Started to understand your concept
Can you also explain what features in A2+ (I just watch Paul Randall's video), BIM features (create an external reference, hi-Res) used?
Or the workflow?

Re: structurized drawing with A2+ WB
We People thinking in pictures and on this pictures we take our knowledge.
########
Let us search the little screw in the CNC-controller:
We people have the picture from this screw saved. The same screw can be in the CNC-Controller or in the CAR.
Ok. It is a 'global' part.
Now we think: How should i find this little screw in the big world?
Ok. We go to the CNC-controller and take a look to them. We found it must be a Hexagon screw in blue, with M3 thread and 20mm long.
With this info (Hexagon screw in blue, with M3 thread and 20mm long) we go in the warehouse and buy them.
We go back to the CNC-controller and take it in there.
Done.
########
########
Now we will build the housing of the cnc-controller.
At first the left wall. We search the left wall.
OK. It is in the house_A, work room, CNC-Controller, Part
Is the Part 'left wall' not there we have to create and build them and take the part 'left wall' in the 'part directory of the cnc-controller', assemble it to modul 'housing of the cnc-controller' and safe his gcode to the 'manufacturing Data'
########
########
we will have new wallpaper and a new sofa in the living room
OK. we have to measure.
We have go in the living room of house_A and there we measure the walls for the wallpaper and the floor to find how many m² we have for the sofa...
########
########
we will buy a new house, called house_B
OK.
- how does it looks like?
- how does it cost?
- How great are the rooms for my parts?
- Where are the plugs for the TV?
etc...
########
########
we bought the new house
- we have to bring the parts of house_A to the house_B. Copy and paste the Parts from house_A and his directory-tree to the new house_B.
- When we will not have the part in the new house_B, bring it in the trashcan.
- When we will have new parts in the new house_B, you have to go to the warehouse and buy it
########
Can you follow, paullee?
