exercise quick construction of a lock, riegel in german, (homage to jürgen riegel one of the co-founders of freecad). I don't think there is a faster or easier way.

I do:
- PartDesign: Sketch two circles
- Pad
- Sketch rounded rectangle with two circles inside
- Pad.
This is not only fast and easy but also parametric.

I found a nice toot. so I will compare both versions. I will shoot videos of it and compare the times

I couldn’t find something similar for macOS.
Ich habe leider noch nichts Entsprechendes für macOS gefunden.

Re: Exercises for fast stable models from combinations with partdesign part and arch-draft
here is the result with my working speeds. this confirms the possibility of being able to work twice as fast in freecad as with conventional 3d cad systems/workflows. that's what my customers want, they say: "since we started working in 3d, our construction times have doubled and we're losing contractors to faster competitors". I am of the opinion that with freecad you can probably be as fast as in 2d.
time factor 2
mouse km factor 3.5
clicks factor 3.8
key factor 2.2

I hardly find anything for mac either, something very old which doesn't count the clicks. you could use this on your linux computer
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/atareao
sudo apt install habits

I would rate that as pretty good for someone who is untrained with sketching. I'm sure it would take much longer if I did it in Draft.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:26 am time factor 2

Your Draft model is still missing a couple of clicks: Select PartWorkbench (2 clicks), select both objects (2 clicks), create union (1 click). Without that it wouldn't be an hommage to Jürgen, but to Mrs. Tube and Mr. Plate.
This would be my take in PartDesign; AutoConstraints enabled.
Create the plate:
3 clicks New Sketch on XY plane. (Precisely: 1 click + 1 double click)
2 clicks select rounded rectangle
4 clicks create two rounded rectangles
5 clicks select circle and make two circles on the y axis
Constrain the plate:
5 clicks select horizontal distance and constrain all such dimensions
7 clicks dto. with vertical distance
5 clicks equality of radiuses
10 clicks symmetry tool selection and application
3 clicks radius constraining
When using keyboard shortcuts one click per line can be saved
1 click close sketch
3 clicks Pad, it would be two if it shouldn't be symmetric
Create the tube:
3 clicks New Sketch on XZ plane
5 clicks select circle and make two concentric circles on the y axis
Constrain the tube:
3 clicks point on object for fixing the vertical position of the circles
3 clicks radius constraining for the two circles
1 click close sketch
3 clicks Pad symmetric
That makes a total of 66 clicks. I use the enter key for confirming inputs. If I wanted something only on the Draft level, it could be even faster, because I could simply use sketcher's grid snapping without any constraints.
