Hi Oliver, Michael Crossley here again.

First off thank you so much for the speedy response and offering me a little more confidence.

I did what you suggest and got no more joy, so started all over again by:

1) uninstalling CFD and CfdOF and reinstalled.
2) removing all the CFD Analysis items from my FreeCAD model Model tab
3) whent through the Elbow tutorial again step by stem taking images of each dialogue boxes as I prgressed

I have prepared a pdf of the sequence and here is a copy that shows an observation that I made in the final image.
MJC Elbow Rev P3 CfdOF Dialogue Sequence - Rev P1.pdf
(228.57 KiB) Downloaded 107 times
My final observation was that it was looking for a folder identified as:

0.3: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'c:\\users\\user\\appdata\\local\\temp\\meshCase\\Allmesh'

The final folder after meshCase actually changed as I re-ran the analysis and I adding each of the folders in turn. Even after building the folder chain it still failed.

At this point I'm completely out of my space but another observation is that it is reporting double backslashes in the above (c:\\users\\user\\appdata\\local\\temp\\meshCase\\Allmesh').

I have no idea but does this help at all and hope I make sense. Really sorry to trouble you on this and I will leave you in peace if I'm of no help :-)

But thank you so much, I am enjoying this and love your work !!

Hi Michael,
can you run my file on your machine?
It is a 4,5 mm diabolo projectile, fired by an airgun. 2D-case.
I downloaded your simulation. Please check your coordinate system
for inlet/outlet values.

Hey Thomas, thanks for the response. I tried your case and I got the same Analysis control Write result below.

Sorry, not quite sure what you mean regarding "coordinate system for inlet/outlet values" I haven't seen anything that refers to this other than the original sketch being located at the x, y and z origin. Is it within CfdOF? Is it this in the Data tab?

Thanks for your patience, I still have a lot of learning to do here.

Hi Michael

This is a strange one. It seems that the mesh is created successfully. To be clear, does the folder c:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\meshCase exist after you have created the mesh?

Please could you save the entire contents of the Report View when you click the "Mesh" button and "Write" buttons to a text file and attach that here? (You don't have to re-build your case - just click 'Mesh' in the meshing window and 'Write' in the solver window and copy the output that results.)
Please provide all the information requested in this post before reporting problems with CfdOF.

Hello Oliver,

"c:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\meshCase" was not made after running Mesh. I went back and made it manually and when I ran Mesh it added new folders to the failed report each time, resulting in the "0.3: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'c:\\users\\user\\appdata\\local\\temp\\meshCase\\Allmesh'" report.

Here is a copy of the mesh object and solver report. Is this what you wanted?

Thanks yet again and I have some more info that I'll get to you later. I tried my own very simple case and got a different result. It'll take me some time to get the info together.

Cheers

Please could you have a look at this post: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 92#p280359 for how to enable the report view. There will be a lot more output on that.

It's really puzzling that you are able to display the mesh in FreeCAD, if the folder doesn't exist. Are you able to view the mesh in paraview?

Your inlet vector should be +y at inlet 1 and +z at inlet 2 ;)

@CrossleyUK:
meshing works, case writing works.
But some files are broken... strange

@CrossleyUK:
I deleted the cfd-analysis and started a new one.
No idea why the error from above happens.
However, this works:

Hi again Oliver and Thomas,

I woke up with a thought at 02:00 this morning and had to take a look.

I decided to start my own very simple case that is here:
CFD Simple Track - Rev P1.FCStd
(23.46 KiB) Downloaded 52 times

here is the result after Mesh and Solver.
Rev P1 CFD Simple Track Mesh.PNG
Rev P1 CFD Simple Track Mesh.PNG (33.14 KiB) Viewed 1792 times
Rev P1 CFD Simple Track Solver.PNG
Rev P1 CFD Simple Track Solver.PNG (317.32 KiB) Viewed 1792 times

So it seamed to work this time but last night there was a failure report after generating only two iterations.

Great news and helpful I hope and this is telling me just how much I need to learn befor I can use FeeCAD CFD for my research.

Cheers and million thanks guys.

Michael
