CFD: Solver-Error

Postby Praktikant8 » Mon Jul 23, 2018 11:03 am

Hi there,
i shortly started working with FreeCAD due to its CDF-Module, i need it for my work. Since i don't know nothing about FreeCAD and CFD i started working through some tutorials, learning by doing....I tried to reproduce a tutorial i found online but in the end i had to deal with an error of the solver. The output of the solver is:
0.0: Checking dependencies...
0.0: OpenFOAM case writer is called
0.0: Error writing case:
0.0: 'FeaturePython' object has no attribute 'ShapeFaceNames'
0.0: Write case setup file failed
I don't know what this means and how to solve it.
It would be great if you were able to help me.
I attached a Screenshot of the output and linked the website where i found the tutorial.

Hi Praktikant,

welcome to the FreeCAD forum.
Learning by doing is a good idea (the german word "Praktikant" means "trainee" :D )
There are tons of tutorials about FreeCAD/openfoam on youtube.

Some hints:
There is a cfd-subforum in FEM forum.
There is a german thread about cfd, maybe you can post questions in german there.
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=29286

cfd-workbench:
The cfd-workbench was updated yesterday, you should update your wb too by using
tools/addon-manager (after updating, close/restart FC)

Elbow-Tutorial:
See page 14, they use a much finer mesh.
Good luck!

Hey thschrader,
thanks for your fast reply. I am aware that there exists a german thread but i would prefer to ask in English (even though i come from Germany)because i think the most Experts here don't speak German. I updated the WB but the error exists still…
Any idea about the error? Origin? Ways to fix it?
Greetings from Germany

Can you post your FC-File? Without mesh, but with boundary conditions you defined.

Yes.
Your model is to small, factor 1000. And thats the reason why your mesh
looks so coarse...
