Re: cfdOF install
That does sound like it's got stuck because that part of the installation isn't that big. Not sure whether there's a log recording through the setup process for someone to investigate.
I've seen on the https://www.cfd-online.com forum whether some users have had to kill the install but happy for someone else to advise if they've seen this behaviour before.

Re: cfdOF install
Dang - never mind, I figured it out.
An install window (for ms-mpi) was hidden behind some other stuff.
As soon as I ack'ed it the whole process finished in a few seconds.
It has been a while since I got bitten by that one. Sorry.

Re: cfdOF install
Keep cool, installing cfd-wb is not easy. My workflow:
Download bluecfd-core/cfmesh/HiSA directly from
http://bluecfd.github.io/Core/Downloads/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cfmesh ... p/download
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hisa/f ... p/download
Install bluecfd-core 2017-2 without using preferences, use the downloaded exe.
bluecfd-core installs bluecfd-core, paraview, notepad, MS-MPI7.1.
Warning: before install, all existing MPIs must be uninstalled, otherwise
bluecfd-core terminates install with error (after 1 hour install, happened on my machine...)
After installing, activate the bluecfd-console and run a tutorial to check openfoam.
Start FC, goto preferences/cfd:
Fill in path to openfoam install directory (should be the same as in pic).
Set your default output directory. In this directory the meshCase/case files
are written.
Install cfmesh by using the „Choose existing file option“ with your downloaded
cfmesh-cfdof.zip. Click install button. Installing cfmesh needed approx 90 min
on my laptop.
Do the same with Hisa-master.zip. Needs 40 min.
Check dependencies.
The whole installation including download needed several hours for me.
But its worth to do that
About compressible solver:
Yes button is active. I try to get HiSA running...
regards Thomas
Re: cfdOF install
Thanks Thomas,
I was halfway into the cfMesh install when your post hit, so I just let it run, followed by HISA.
All via the Preferences install.
Dependency check
But there were many error messages during the mesh install, and a few during the hisa install.
Running the mesh operation on my elbow model worked better than before, but still had some trouble
Status window in CFD Mesh window of task tab
last few lines from above suggest that all those error messages might be a problem ...

I don't think you need to re-install anything, I've had the FEM::FemMeshPythonObject warning on:

Just try the tutorial and maybe ignore the Report View unless something actually doesn't work, there are occasional advisory warnings/errors and it's just knowing what is important and that will only come with time and going through each of the tutorials until you're comfortable with it.

and I can complete the Elbow Tutorial successfully.
Just try the tutorial and maybe ignore the Report View unless something actually doesn't work, there are occasional advisory warnings/errors and it's just knowing what is important and that will only come with time and going through each of the tutorials until you're comfortable with it.

Re: cfdOF install
Thanks Syres, thschrader
I'll try a new run through the sim, but I expect those errors to show up somewhere, somehow ... eventually.
The edit was to correct a reference in my comments from my 1:04 PM post.
What kind of description for my FC file do you want?
I did a manual copy of the model from the picture in the tutorial.
I ended with 1 degree of freedom I could not eliminate.
I saw some msgs in the report view that referred to a cylinder. All I used was lines and arcs and points.
I find it amusing that computers are able to do something useful with hundreds of error messages from the install process and a model that is not mathematically 'right'. Such things have to go bonkers sooner or later, don't they?
GIGO
Dang - I hope the guy that designed the plane I'll be using next week had better luck.

Re: cfdOF install
So I went to the next step in the tutorial, after creating the mesh. Said step is adding boundary conditions.
After some ... fiddling ... I managed to get the first inlet set up. At least I think I did.
I started wondering if those errors I saw during installation might be nibbling on my butt.
Inlet1 velocity set to 1,0,0 m/sec.
I also had to fiddle with things when I began working on the second inlet.
More fiddling than with the first inlet.
I wish I could be more descriptive here.
I know you guys like to hear from people like me, trying to do stuff like this.
It helps a lot, in your understanding of what you have actually produced and distributed to the real world.
I wish I could be more descriptive here. But 'fiddling' is as close as I can get.
I'm sorry.
I don't have enough experience to be able to tell you what you need to hear.
Attached is a shot of my FC screen at this point.
Everything has disappeared except the inlet1 face and the inlet2 face.
I think it is bed time.

Re: cfdOF install
You've most likely accidently had the Pad and/or the Body_elbow1 selected in the Model Tree and caught the Space Bar which toggles visibility on and off. Items will be ghosted where the visibility is off and coloured in when visible.
