Yes.That sucks.
I am questioning myself why I wrote this:

My personal opinion:
The FEM/CFD workbenches are drifting away...
An endless stream of negative messages.
Sorry, german speaker.
WE must find a coherent solution.
calculix, elmer, openfoam, dualspysics, nastran and 100 other ideas.
But how to start?
Whats your opinion,guys?

Re: Installation CfdOf / HiSA
This is the behaviour I get using the Conda installation of FreeCAD (instead of the LP one). Are you sure this is not the problem?Sidemountyucatan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 2:44 pm

OK, well this could be the reason. But where so I get this other version ? I just found the Conda version.

The LP-version is right below Conda. Hard to miss...Sidemountyucatan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 5:22 am OK, well this could be the reason. But where so I get this other version ? I just found the Conda version.

Re: Installation CfdOf / HiSA
Maybe I'm the only one who can use the Conda build with the latest version of CfdOF Wb, love to be proved wrong!!oliveroxtoby wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:23 pm This is the behaviour I get using the Conda installation of FreeCAD (instead of the LP one). Are you sure this is not the problem?
There maybe more subtle differences to my setup than most Windows users but the main one that jumps to mind is that I never install FOSS into C:\Program Files or the x86 version, I personally always use E:\MyProgs and this includes blueCFD. The reason for this has been given before, please see https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 42#p279025
The other difference in my setup is the TMP environment variable (not TEMP) is non-standard, it points to E:\Temp, this was done entirely due to the FreeCAD (and others) install process extracts to the TMP assigned folder and I hate my C: drive filling up unnecessary files that don't get properly tided up (I used to be a server support engineer in another time and you learn from your mistakes).
If someone wants to test initally by changing the TMP variable, retrying and then more likely to have a real impact by uninstalling blueCFD from C:\Program Files and reinstalling to any non-default folder that User Access Control doesn't interfere with, it would be of benefit to the community.
In the meantime, I've got access to a Windows 10 box with different hardware that doesn't have the Conda build yet but does have the same blueCFD installation folder as mine but hasn't yet been updated to the latest CfdOF Wb so I have something to verify as well. It'll be UK evening time tomorrow before I can get back to the forum with the results.
Your efforts are appreciated and once we get to the root cause it'll be a very useful doc, hopefully all Windows builds (including self compiled) will work just with some tweaks.thschrader wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:33 pm I am questioning myself why I wrote this:

Re: Installation CfdOf / HiSA
I tried LP Version but the same result
Oh man, thats really frustrating.
With https://sourceforge.net/projects/openfo ... e/download I get finally the error code:
cfMesh downloaded to C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpiv8y4lq7.zip
Command 'echo $WM_PROJECT_USER_DIR' returned non-zero exit status 1.
Download unsuccessful
I will try with bluecfd but I supppose it will fail aswell.
That means no CfdOf in the future ?

Re: Installation CfdOf / HiSA
OK, nice to hear!
Do you have an idea why you got the errors above?
At the moment it seems everybody uses trial and error...
Would be cool to establish a valid and stable installation procedure.
Can we notify that the FC-Conda built does not (proper) work for bluecfd at the moment?

Re: Installation CfdOf / HiSA
Honestly speaking: no clue. As you said just trial and error. In my opinion it should also work properly with the newest Open Foam Release. Bluecfd is mit the most actual one.
