Freecad will not start after installing help 020.1

Post by clem_acc »

FreeCad was working fine, I installed the help add-in, and now it will not run. it just hangs up when you try and open the app. a blank screen saying (not responding). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, running as administrator. when i look at task manager it says high power usage, and there are 2 instances of C++ application Development framework along with Freecad 0.20.1. Win 10 installation.

Can you run from the command line and see what the error is ?

I think windows doesn't actually show output in the terminal so that might be useless, run through cmd but with the --write-log parameter and upload the resulting logfile that will be created at %appdata%/FreeCAD
Note taht uninstalling freecad usually doesn't remove whatever addons you had installed so if the problem is caused by an addon what you need to do is remove the addon, not FreeCAD. Addons are located at %appdata%/FreeCAD/Mod you may try clearing that.
