After my luckless Try compiling FreeCad onto SuSe11.2 i tried Ubuntu 10.2. Compiling worked so far, the program starts but in the sketcher all button are grey. Only "Create a New Sketch" does something. After pressing it appears a little window "Running external program" sketchflat with a button "Advanced". This brings a path "/home/ww/freecad/bin/sketchflat.exe . Its a little bit curious (~.exe).
Is there any Distro, on which FreeCad works without problems? I am not a programmer and its not funny for the specialists to answer questions from clueless people like me.
But I am looking for a free Linux-Cad application for many years and i imagine, FreeCad ist it.
Thanks in Advance

Re: Sketcher
Hi,
unfortunatly is the sketcher we use so far not really ported to Linux. I was able to run it with Wine. FreeCAD can then use the .skf files as starting point for a extrusion or pad feature...
On Windows sketchflat.exe is run automatic by the dialog you seen, on Linux that doesent work that way. You have to start sketchflat by hand...
