0.18 AppImage - Conda

Post by onekk »

HI, I've just installed the 0.18 AppImage and updated using the tool AppImageUpdate-382-b61bee3-x86_64.AppImage having now a FreeCAD_0.18.15068_Conda_Py3Qt5_glibc2.12-x86_64.AppImage.

The process is straightforward and the App is running but:

In the previous 0.17 version at the first launch I was asked if I wanted Desktop integration (to have the icon in one of my menu and a corresponding voice in ~/.local/share/applications) now I'm not asked of such thing and I've to launch the application by hand using the App itself.

even if I've deleted the old ~/.FreeCAD directory, when trying to install Assembly2 Workbench, process that end without error in the internal plugin installer.

When I successively restart FreeCAD I'm obtaing this error:

Code: Select all

During initialization the error No module named 'core' occurred in /home/carlo/.FreeCAD/Mod/assembly2/InitGui.py
Please look into the log file for further information
Regards

Looks like a problem with python3 imports. Please report this to assembly2 module (github). Should be an easy fix. (Maybe it's fixes in assembly2++?)

It is not a problem with the icon, the entire procedure of installing on Linux the Appimage of 0.17 gave the choice to install the appropriate .desktop file to start the program in the "standard" Linux path for this type of file (user path and not system wide path).

0.18 didn't give this choice.
