New build for Mac OS X 10.6 -- does it work?

Postby peterl94 » Fri Aug 30, 2013 5:29 pm

Hi,

I just did another build with my osx-app branch for Mac OS X 10.6 (x86_64), and was wondering if my build works for anyone else. The only thing that I know doesn't work is the help -- everything else should work fine. The app can be downloaded here.

It may or may not work on newer version of OS X. If you do try it on a new version of OS X, you will need to install XQuartz because I didn't bundle the X11 libraries with the app.

Thanks,
Peter

I got the chance to try my build on mac running 10.8 today, and confirmed that it does work on mountain lion if you have XQuartz installed.

Also verified that it works on 10.8, though only to see if I could import your build's freeCAD lib into python like the wiki describes. (I can't; dynlibs aren't linked in a way that the importer likes. Same issue as the release .app :? )

(Can you tell me how you got SoQt built? I've brewed coin and then qt but the soqt source build always fails on the qt symbols ... )

Well, thanks for tying it anyway. I think I might know of a way that a relocatable .app could be built with out using @executable_path... I'll give it a try it when I have the time.

For this build, I used the binary package of Qt and compiled everything else manually, but I have used homebrew to install all of the dependencies before. In both cases I didn't run into any errors when building SoQt. Though, come to think of it, I did have to create homebrew recipes for some libraries, but I don't remember if SoQt was one of them. Maybe you can post more about the error in your build problems thread.

It seems to work fine for me too on MAC OS X 10.6.8.
