New Mac OS X build! 0.14.3052

Post by peterl94 »

Hey guys,

(I thought I would do a post here so that more people would see it.)

I recently did a Mac build of 0.14.3052, and it is now available to download from sourceforge: FreeCAD_0.14.3052_x64.zip.

A few things about this build:
- It should work on 10.6 and anything newer.
- It does not depend on X11.
- It can be imported into other python applications
- The Ship workbench is not available because I did not include PyQt4 (you will see the following message on start up: During initialization the error No module named PyQt4 occurred in [...]/Ship/InitGui.py)
- The Plot workbench won't work because I did not include matplotlib.

Hopefully both these workbenches will be available in my next build, but in the mean time, this build should work fine for everything else.

Please post here if you have any problems with it.

~ Peter

Reason: Unstickied the topic, the final v0.14 Mac build now supersedes this version.

Great!
I set the property on sf.net, so the mac user gets the big green rectangle for this package.
Stop whining - start coding!

This build works well on 10.9.1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see the ship workbench soon... ;-).

Thanks for your work!

Hi Peter.

Thanks for saving FreeCAD for OSX users :-)

Just did a very quick tour, and it seems to work fine here (OSX 9.1).

One improvement would be to remove the "Unidentified developer" roadblock when first launching the application. Do you know if that requires a lot of paperwork with Apple or "just" money?

Hi Peter,

New to FreeCAD and new to the forum. Downloaded and happy to say working on 10.9.1 Mavericks. Thanks for the good work. :D

Nice. It works fine for me.
How did you build it? I *still* can't build on Mac. Even after finding some undocumented dependencies (PySide, shiboken), fixing the fact that the sesamesmesh "mefisto2" component doesn't compile the Fortran file, etc., I keep getting a little bit further but no actual success.

So how about the "Unidentified developer" roadblock. How do you get around it? Exited to try the software!

"It should work on 10.6 and anything newer."

Great news! I just got a hand-me-down Mac running 10.6.8 And didn't wish to bump it to newer OS X. I'm told 10.7 is slower, so this was just what I need. :D

I'm a newbie to Mac, FreeCAD, and this Forum...my first peep.
Thanks for helping those of us back here in the 'dust cloud.
