When will version 0.19 be available in the Ubuntu software repositories?
I use Linux Mint 20 and the version of FreeCAD in the software manager is 0.18.4+dfsg2-1ubuntu4 - does anyone know when version 0.19 is going to be available in the software manager? Thanks

AFAIK Ubuntu (and by extension Linux Mint) doesn't add new software to the repos of previous releases, they are meant to be stable. So there won't be newer freecad versions unless you upgrade to the next version of Ubuntu. Linux Mint is based on the LTS releases so you won't see a newer freecad in your repos until you upgrade to the next version in 2022. There are other options for you though:
Second option is good if you want to get future freecad updates through the package manager.
third option is a pretty good alternative too, not as simple as the first but probably more simple than the second, you can also get updates for future versions there.
I see no reason why you would want to use the fourth option instead of the third but I list it anyway.
If you find yourself constantly annoyed at the trouble you have to go through to get newer software then it might be worth looking into a rolling release distro (arch, manjaro, debian testing, etc)
- use the Appimage
- add the freecad ppa to your repos Installing_on_Linux
- use the flatpak version
- enable snaps in Mint then install the snap version
- switch to a rolling release distro

Guess you're talking of the PPA, not of the distro repo.kharmaguru wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 8:08 pm I'm still on Ubuntu 18.04.5 and i just upgraded to ver 0.19 through the repository.

It's linux lite 4.8 which uses Ubuntu repositories and is version18.04 . Using the software update or the synaptic package manager both offered 0.19. Other than one package that I had to force install it went fine and works fine.
