FreeCAD on macOS 12.2 (Monterey)

Post by chrisb »

Just want to let you know that I have upgraded my Intel based MacBookPro to macOS 12.2 and that FreeCAD runs fine!
There seem to be different metrics used for the icons in the toolbar, so I had to rearrange my toolbars in TechDraw.

OS: macOS 10.16
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.20.27078 (Git)
Build type: Release
Python version: 3.9.9
Qt version: 5.12.9
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.5.3
Locale: C/Default (C)

Why is FreeCAD reporting macOS 10.16 then?

I guess this is what the API functions return. 10.15 was the last 10.XX and since then it is just "one revision more". They may have got the idea from FreeCAD, which is still approaching very slowly 1.0.

Both, the 0.19.3 and a actual 0.20 version from the weekly builds runs on an 24 arm-based M1 iMac with Montery.

The GUI looks pretty, except the small size of the red dots in the sketches (to small) and the font on the navigation cube.

That's probably due to the resolution of your display. You probably want to adapt the View scale in the preferences.

Monterey is 2 revisions beyond 10.15. You're forgetting Big Sur MacOS 11.

Good to see you got it working. Without increasing this significantly, Sketcher was rather difficult to use for me, because I was used to have a lower resolution screen. The only drawback is, that the symmetry center symbol can no longer be selected with the mouse because it is almost completely hidden if it lies below a point.

Those can also be scaled but strangely the arrows are not:
