FreeCAD won't install on MAC

Post by KenWing »

Tried install on my Mac. MacOS says it will not open FreeCAD because the developer cannot be verified, so it cannot rule out malware. Please help.

Open with a ctrl-click instead of double-click and then give it permission to open.

Code: Select all

OS: macOS 12.4
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.21.30252 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: master
Hash: af18a9ea3bcf7b215737d5587615596b9f677ba7
Python 3.10.6, Qt 5.15.4, Coin 4.0.0, Vtk 9.1.0, OCC 7.6.2
Locale: C/Default (C)
Installed mods:
  * freecad.gears-master 1.0.0
  * fasteners 0.3.40
  * Assembly4 0.11.12
This works for me
Download the ARM dmg (There is both intel and Arm, I have a M1 Mac Book, so I go ARM, But Intel works as well thanks to Rosetta)
right click, or control click or double click
Mac OS will will not open FreeCAD because the developer cannot be verified, cancel or delete
Cancel
again (yes repeat)
right click, double click, or control click
now Mac OS will ask if you want to open the app and one more question will show up:
Git command require the command line developer tool, do you want to download and install?
I do not use Git so cancel or ignore and it will go away,
FreeCad will open on my M1 in about 5 seconds
