Failure to put material in Arch workbench.

Post by hamza »

It is not clear to me where should issues related to the link Branch be described? Is this the place where the issues related to Link Branch should be mentioned? I have provided a link to an issue. This is related to Link Branch. Should it be here?

You can post it here as well, but the best place for genuine issues that require to be addressed by @realthunder is the github.
important point though is No3

Quite a few "so called" issues on github are simply:
"how do I do it?"
"what is it?
"I need help"

None of these belong in "issues" section of github

All of the above is my own personal opinion ;)
I am using Link branch and Assembly3
you can also download ... and try it here

Do you or anyone else have a possible solution? I think this is a bug. Because in this version of free cad the material is working perfectly.

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24267 +99 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: Branch_0.19.3
Hash: 6530e364184ce05ccff39501e175cf2237e6ee4b
Python version: 3.8.6+
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.3
Locale: English/United States (en_US)

I mean, the point is that the problem is only in the link branch

No, I personally don't have solution (if only because I am totally un-familiar with Arch),
but there may be someone else who will possibly offer you some help.

I would start with changing the title of this thread, so it is a bit more descriptive of your problem...

Some questions due to lack of information
is unlikely to attract interest of people knowledgeable in FreeCAD and Arch specifically??

Yes it is clear that many "Issues" are not Issues, but there is no other way to ask question on GitHub, so probably something has to be changed, for this many GitHub users, put tags to make a "visual mark" about the "type of Issue".

Is it a good solution, probably not, but if there will be a better ways, like a "Request for Help" place where a user could ask for advice, probably Issue lists will be much shorter.

That's why existence of this sub-forum is very much welcome development.
You should ask questions here on the forum and report issues on the GitHub.

My post was more general.

If in GitHub there will be a "canonical" place to ask for help, like in this forum it will be more handy, as many developers don't have a proper site where ask for help in configuring things, I have some problems with some emacs extensions, as example, and it is frustrating when asking for help in the only place where you have to interact with a developer (GitHub) and having the request closed because it is not an issue.

Many use maybe an IRC chat other some other messaging system, but a user could not be forced to subscribe with many messaging system or download many apps on his smartphone only to ask for some questions.

FC has a forum an also github, this is a good compromise but informations are keep mainly in two places, "wiki pages" and "forum", other "communications systems" could be considered ancillary as the discord channel or maybe some other channel, where only if you are interested in talking directly with developers you need to be subscribed.

let's try to keep on topic, otherwise @hamza will never get an answer to his question ;)

Are these errors not present in master branch? There is also mention of part-o-magic addon, can you try uninstalling that and seeing if it works then? Are you using the experimental renderer?
