Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
I am working on a 4K screen so everything might look small on smaller resolutions, good thing is if you can read it so small you can probably read it on 1080p.
Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
4K screen may be perfectly fine if you were only doing this project for yourself, but if you expecting to share it with wider group of users, it may have to be tested on other screen resolutions as well?
I am using 2560x1440 screen and the screen dump I have attached to my post is what I see 1:1
It is just about as small as I (personally) would want to go with icons...
BTW your screen seems very green? with all these icons predominantly green
For comparison, here is my full screen (looks similar to yours?):

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
I might adjust the green a bit to be less saturated, but now it is green as green can get.
I really want to make it so it renders all the icons in one go, and so I can easily make multiple color sets, but there seem to be no way to automatically convert them into svg. There was talk about using node.js or something like that to change colors in SVG files. But I have no managed to find out how that can be done.
I am using now an external program that sets the image trace settings in inkscape as I was tired of doing that over and over and over again.
Blender direct to SVg render only rendered the lines for me and filled everything else up with white. But then again I will look a bit boring if it only has single color sides. Although it would reduce the image size a lot.

Yeah,
what I like about current setup (as opposed to the one you are proposing) is that it groups icons using colours.
With just a single colour (regardless whether it is green or something else) I feel that I need to look closer at the icons to find the one I want/need.
Using green, red, yellow, blue in various icons grouped more or less logically, I find it easier on my eyes when searching for the right icon.
Multi colours for me, please

Solid-works once updated the icons to be all grayish and everyone was complaining, you couldn't switch back to the old icons.bambuko wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 5:12 pm Yeah,

"Just pay your subscriptions and we will roll back the colors later as long as you keep paying us."
And they added the option to go back to the old icons in a service pack couple of months later.
TLDR: lets laugh at the Solidworks user who only have 2 icon packs while we can make INFINITE! and choose the ones we like. (Although mine is the only available atm )
BTW found this: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Artwork_Guidelines
I think it is nice written wikipage, but to be honest I am just going to ignore that!

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
I tweaked it a bit. Now the display is barely visible. But still if you are a beginner you can make the icons bigger to understand what it is.
Realthunder added on my request different thumbnails for the axis and planes in the origin. His look good too they are way more clear than before with the color, but I just had to throw my sauce over it. I also made the sketch icons a bit more clear and line thickness of the pad and pattern.

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
Realthunder made it possible to use non-square icons in the tree and in the workbench bar.
So I made it green, what else....
What I like to accomplish:
More uniform look.
More clear on what workbenches do what.
Did I succeed, nope not really but looks cool
Maybe someone has a better idea?

Being totally ignorant I don't know what I am looking at? (sorry )MisterMaker wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 7:52 am Realthunder made it possible to use non-square icons in the tree and in the workbench bar.
Perhaps side by side comparison? (of square ve non-square)
PS I don't know if it is you or realthunder? but I like plane ve axis labels - much more clear now!

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
These are now icons:
And yes, newest release we can have label per axis and plane, before they where all white/gray.
But I am not really satisfied yet.

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
how does it manifest itself in the tree? (or have you not done it yet?)
"...possible to use non-square icons in the tree and in the workbench bar..."
Do you like my choice of colour?
