Suggestion for improvement Selection

Post by thomas-neemann »

When I started with freecad, I was often irritated when making selections. I have a suggestion to make it easier for the many newcomers to freecad.
If you click on a point, an edge or a face in the 3D window, the part tree should highlight it in light blue. that would e.g. create a clear situation when starting a sketch, when setting a working plane or with trimex, etc.

Example sketcher. different situations

This is a crossposting from https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=65317. You may not be happy with my answer there, but you could at least mention it.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

here it is (automatically translated)

"To be honest, I don't like that at all. For example, a very useful function would then also be omitted, namely clicking on an object in the 3D view to make it invisible.

Incidentally, in your example, both situations only appear to look the same: the points below are also selected. It's not particularly clear here, but as soon as it's non-trivial objects, like solids (other than spheres) or sketches with multiple lines that don't lie on a straight line, you can immediately see the difference."
