Here's an article on About.com about FreeCAD:

The author seems to like it.

I also had a little trouble selecting multiple objects for editing at first. I got used to the system after a bit (and a quick browse of the Help utility) so it’s not a big issue but once again, it isn’t what a veteran CAD user will be looking for.
Sorry! still on a campaign for the elimination of the modifier key for multiple selection. ;)

Thanks for the link. I wonder who this 'hephaestusness' is? He claims to have a team of people working on the assembly workbench
Maybe he should come on over and interact with Juergen and the rest of us....

I asked Google about that and found a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDAfD6VGFqo

Hey guys it seems that you are cited in a study of the CAD market in China from 2014 to 2018.
I want to read this report but it is too expensive (for me). ;)

Further, the report states that the availability of open-source CAD software is one of the major challenges in the CAD market in China. Many open-source CAD software solutions such as BRL-CAD and FreeCAD that are present in the market are posing a major threat to commercial CAD software vendors.
Hopefully the Dassault lawyer don't read that :(

You will have to make FreeCAD gplv3 and turn over the copyright to Stallman. Sorry I couldn't resist. I hope Dassault and Siemens both read it.

No kidding - $2500 minimum (single user license) for a 50 page report. Link is here.

The guy posted about his mod over on the RepRap forum. He was rebundling FreeCAD with his Python module, I told him he should just make a separate module that would not require to use his specific FreeCAD version. He agreed, but I haven't heard from him since.

That report seems dubious to me. China is not known for embracing open source, they're more known to pirate their software. A few years ago when I worked on a plastic enclosure project to be manufactured in China, I was told that all the mold tooling shops over there have Pro Engineer, and none of them ever payed for a legitimate license. Granted that was hearsay.
