Organization Chart FreeCAD
so far i haven't seen a Organization Chart for the FreeCAD Project
so I thought i'd offer to make one
Benefits
1) Avoid volunteers duplicating work
2) Make it easier for new comers to the project to find an unique area to contribute to
3) Shows which features of the package have ongoing support
4) Removes burdens from the Project founders (especially outside their core interest)
I rough drafted an outline in Google Docs (i'll port it to something better later and post it), I expect this would be a multi-page Org Chart when finished
Please Let me know what categories need to be added
If you want your name in somewhere please let me know (many people can support an area, if that is where you feel you should contribute)

Re: Organization Chart FreeCAD
Hi. I would like to help with CAM (cnc machine tool path generation). I have some experience with coding in python for HeeksCNC and want to port over some of the libraries to work with FreeCAD. I also want to continue helping yorik with DXF import/export issues.
Thanks,
Dan Falck

Ok,
I put already a project on the dev pages:
https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ ... nt_roadmap
to make a new organication to the development work. So that branch will be a bit more structured.
For the rest of the activities we have no structure so far and I'm open for suggestions.

Re: Organization Chart FreeCAD
Here is the start of the Organization Chart that i hope will draw in volunteer users seeing areas they can contribute to FreeCAD
the odt Open Office file (2 pages) is here
http://carltonsara.com/engineer/freecad ... _Chart.odt
also i'd be interested in working on sheet metal, but would need someone to help with the c++ and freecad code base

Re: Organization Chart FreeCAD
Ok,
I have personally no experience in sheet metal design, besides the automotive part.
I thought a lot lately about the a second branch in FreeCAD with more element based logic.
PartDesign is very focused on solid geometry.
What systems do you work?

Re: Organization Chart FreeCAD
Another option would be to make the SheetMetal module in Python. There's some Arch code that could be reused: the wall feature allows wall construction with parametric thickness based on single lines sketch. Of course it would be best if the sheetmetal feature could automatically add bent corners...
I've done a lot of sheetmetal design in Solid Edge (straight bends, no stamping, besides the SW does not support it) and would be glad to see such a module in FreeCAD. But I have no programing skills, I can just give feedback from an experienced user's perspective, what I see as useful tools/workflow, and testing/bug hunting I guess.
Even though I know I don't have the skills (or the math knowledge), I've been thinking about a sheetmetal module for some time. One thing that has me stomped, I have no idea how one would calculate material deformation/stretching on a 2 or 3-bend corner! (of course you can choose to only support round or square cutouts to avoid the problem)
Oh, about my contribs so far:
- Documentation wiki
- French translation of both wiki and software (Crowdin)
But I wonder if this chart shouldn't be in the Wiki, and not an external file, for ease of editing? Although the MediaWiki syntax does not allow for chart making...
