That is brilliant and it didn't take too much time to change the decision!
Would be so great to have an easily usable rendering solution in FreeCAD.
CADRays has proven as a great "quick'n'dirty" solution, allowing to import structured STEP Files and assign materials really easily.

still looks like Windows only, from what I can tell, but if we get git access, there may well be a linux git branch since they did say earlier that they had a rough Linux version that needed polish.
Will be interesting to see once someone gets git to work.
