GSoC 2017: accepted proposals
Today the official selection of GSoC proposals has taken place, and I'm proud to announce that FreeCAD got 4 slots assigned! I welcome the 4 student here in our community and wish a fruitful time to everyone, congratulations!
Also, sorry if your proposals has not been accepted. There have been more than 4 good ones, but due to limited slots, mentors and sometimes limited expertise on our side we needed to take a compromise. I hope you will all stay around in our community and become part of this great experiance, even if not backed by GSoC.
Here are the accepted proposals:
Kurt Kremitzki - Part Design Workbench Refinement
Markus Hovorka - Elmer Integration
Amritpal Singh - Rebar Addon for FreeCAD
Ajinkya Dahale Topological Naming in FreeCAD
Now one month community bonding is coming up, and I hope you all become active here in the forum or the other channels. Use the time to get into the details, your mentors will be very happy to guide you through!

Oddly I received an email from gsoc saying my proposal was not accepted. Something needs to be resolved here.

I don't see how toponaming replaces assembly. If anything it shouls assist assembly, right?DeepSOIC wrote:Oh! Toponaming accepted!! Bye bye, assembly

It means I will most likely stop coding for assembly for the duration of GSoC.jnxd wrote:I don't see how toponaming replaces assembly. If anything it shouls assist assembly, right?DeepSOIC wrote:Oh! Toponaming accepted!! Bye bye, assembly

Re: GSoC 2017: accepted proposals
jnxd said google tells him that his proposal wasn't accepted.
jnxd wrote:Thanks for the info. I hope to have a great and fruitful time this summer.
However, there is an; issue that has to be addressed before anything else: why did I receive the contradictory email? Can you tell with me where you got the list of accepted projects? Was that after organizational log in, or before?
WTF is going on?jnxd wrote:The exact text:
Hi Ajinkya Dahale,
Thank you for applying to be a Google Summer of Code 2017 student.
Unfortunately none of your proposals were accepted this year. Every year we receive more student proposals than we are able to accept. We hope you will apply again in the future.

OK, just got this copy email from Google:
So it was just a glitchHello Ajinkya Dahale,
We apologize for the earlier rejection email you received, there was a glitch that affected a handful of students and sent out a rejection email when in fact you have been accepted into GSoC 2017! Congratulations! You can see your project on the GSoC projects page. Below is the email that you should have received a few hours ago. Again, we apologize for the confusion.
