Not to pile on, but a 0.19 release would be a good way to capitalize on this momentum.

When you say, 'capitalize' and 'momentum' what do you have in mind? I mean I love seeing this activity. It's fun! But I don't see how it gets us any more of what we want. Rather, I see it costing us.kkremitzki wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 5:25 pm Not to pile on, but a 0.19 release would be a good way to capitalize on this momentum.
Everyone is acting like Autodesk made a huge mistake. Everyone, except Autodesk. From their perspective they got rid of their most expensive and least profitable users. This is a group of people that abandoned Fusion almost entirely over the price issue. They would abandon FreeCAD in a heartbeat if Autodesk reversed that discussion.
All those people ran to FreeCAD and are now taking our attention and effort to support and giving very little back. Like I said, it's fun but I'm not sure how it's to our advantage.
I want to see a release as much as the next person but when we release we'll get a lot of attention which means more new users to support. If that doesn't translate into code, contributions, or cash, I don't think we should be in a big hurry.
