[Path Feature Request] Create PathShape as member of Job Operations

Post by Gauthier »

Hi all,

As discussed in the Path forum (https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 14#p198321), The PathShape functionality isn't meant to be an operation type in user level tools, but rather for testing and debugging.

However, this functionality is very interesting, it allows among other things, to control the movement of the tool along lines or curves. This allows for example, to drill holes without using the predefined cycles (G81, G82, etc.), or to drive the displacement of the tool between 2 machining along paths avoiding collisions, etc.

So, I propose to include the PathShape feature as the same level than the other user-level milling operations, and that the created PathShape objects be a member of the Job object's list of operations.
Seeing that the functionality already exists, maybe it's not too complicated to realize ...

What do you think about this ?

Thanks,
Gauthier.
