Re: Part rotation
It seems you havent read the answers or didn't try properly:
Menu->View->Standard views->Fit all
It's the first entry in the submenu.
It is possible that there is an error, then a bug report is required, but it is definitely not a feature request (for something new).
There is an Icon for zoom fit or you find it in the menu:
Menu->View->Standard views->Fit all
It's the first entry in the submenu.

FYI the official FC FreeCAD_0.17.13452.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage doesn't crash on Ubuntu 16.04 ...the_document wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 10:09 pmFC crashes when using gesture rotation + focus (holding H key) - part still doesn't rotate about its center after panning the part around.the_document wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 9:06 pm Using a FC git revision from here https://github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD_ ... 3/releases appimage I only found trackball and turntable both of which don't revolve object by their center and orbit when revolving.
Made bug https://www.freecadweb.org/tracker/view.php?id=3394
I also cannot find any issue with Gesture in FreeCAD-asm3-20180306-b7b9031f-827d2c0.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage
Anyway if you want to get your 'experimental' release to be fixed, you need to report an issue on the author GH page
https://github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD_assembly3
and not make useless noise at official FC tracker

easyw-fc wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 4:20 pmIf you zoom fit or even change the pivot center of rotation you shouldn't have any issue or lack in feature....the_document wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 11:31 pm Any plans to improve part view rotation? Currently it has to orbit and cannot freely rotate in place what it does is orbit and makes large loops around the center of the part. Its making FC mediocre.
This seems to me that really you miss to read some documentation...
Re: Part rotation
You had been told twice before how to rotate a part. The bug reporting guide says you should discuss issues here in the forum. That includes reading the answers. You did not link this conversation to the bug report. I will close the, as it works perfectly!the_document wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 7:44 pm Closed original feature request bug and made appropriate bug for this serious issue

For your next bug report, which hopefully will be useful, please attach an example as simple as possible.

It still orbits if zoomed out rendering the rotation very buggy.

I said 'Zoom Fit' and not 'Zoom Out'
if it is a bug it seems to be a PEBCAK

Re: Part rotation
Denying this is a horrible bug is sad, but closing a legitimate bug is worse. Made screencast to prove my point. Likely last screencast anyways.

Re: Part rotation
Today, I can confirm that this is indeed a big, big bug.
