Way off topic, I am at a cattle sale
Hi all, I thought some of you might find this interesting or at least different from what you are doing today.
I am at a large regional cattle sale here in Australia just now....FreeCADing while waiting, there are 13 thousand being sold here today.
Here is a picture. Some cute young Angus Heifers who would very much like to go to a home and be treated as loved pets .....rather than.......
System says my file is too big, so a picture will have to wait, ...if anyone wants one.

Still waiting for the proof that the Australian ambassador of FreeCAD spreads the word in every environment .

Cute cow, great photo!
I have some pictures of the roof over the yards. Its several hectares under a roof. Its an interesting design but once agian you have to wait as I am on my phone just now.
I have to add another non-FreeCAD comment just now as I am proud and delighted to tell you all that a couple of days ago I saved the life of a cow and calf by delivering a calf. The cow was in difficulties, partly because it was her first baby. I arrived at my mate's farm just as he was trying to get a cow into his yards, she was being difficult but we eventually got her in and then into the crush. She was very upset being in pain and having no idea what was happening or what the humans were trying to do. I went around the front of the head lock got down on my knees stroked her nose and talked to her for a few seconds to calm her down. We then used a calf puller to get the calf out.......I let the cow out of the crush and showed her the calf, she suddenly understood, forgave me and licked her calf clean. She went back to being a very tame cow. The calf is now a happy healthy baby bull!
He is a Murray Grey cross Holstein and is very pretty!

Good to hear that there is a life beyond FreeCAD.

Re: Way off topic, I am at a cattle sale
So how about them pictures?
Re: Way off topic, I am at a cattle sale
I am now finally posting the pictures.
These young Angus said that they would "very much like to come and live at my place and be pets"!
By the way, like many here I am also multi-lingual I speak English obviously, but rather than learning something as useless as French or German etc., I learnt something far more useful .... "Cow"! Actually there are more cattle in Australia than humans.
Then this cute little young Hereford said it wanted a pat on its nose and that its friends would also like to come to my place and be much loved pets!
I have some more picture that I will post soon that show the architecture which I think is interesting.

Now for the architecture.
I think it might be interesting due to both its size and its design. The roof support poles go right through and above the roof, the roof purlins and hence the roof is supported by being hung from the top of the poles, rather than the more typical frame below the roofing material. The roofing material is stiffened by being folded into "V" shape corrugations that looked to be something like about 300mm deep.
There are two sets of covered sale yards, one for the cattle sales and one for the sheep sales, as well as various uncovered yards and paddocks etc.. They are similar in design, however the cattle yards have a higher roof since they have a second story walkway above the actual yards. The 2 covered sections of the yards are 1.5 and 1.8 hectares approximately.
I took photos of the sheep pen as I was leaving. To give you an idea of the scale, from left to right in this first picture the shed/roof/yards are about 225m long.
The sheep yards.
Close up views inside/under the roof. The roof support, has a support from underneath only along the outer edge as a stiffener, but you can see how the roof material is otherwise supported by being hung from above. close up of the purlin, also above the roofing material.

Yorik, have you seen something similar elsewhere and is it common?yorik wrote:

Very cute cattle; must hide the pictures from my wife. Otherwise our next dog might be a calf.
