I think it's pretty neat. I like the stackexchange format especially for getitng help with coding questions. I know there has been several thread debating if FC should attempt to have a stackexchange type extendede forum. As I've been dabbling with more python and hang out with coders I see how indispensable stackexchange is in their workflow to get help with python/javascript etc...
The more we develop the FC API the more questions we will get. Just saying.
Alone you go faster. Together we go farther

I don't see a problem with FreeCAD having such option. It's just likely you, the new generation, will need to provide help over there. And therefore if you are prepared to do that. Do it.

Does python have its own separate stack exchange implementation, or do they use stackoverflow.com with [python] tags?

Looks like there are already some questions tagged with [freecad]
