name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

Have some feature requests, feedback, cool stuff to share, or want to know where FreeCAD is going? This is the place.

So, in substance, you don't have any idea of what a mechanical CAD is but you want to develop it ?

I do develop a CAD which fits my needs, I help to develop FreeCAD.

Ok, it makes sense.
But I think that most other developers, probably, are targetting a larger user group than themselves.

Are you sure about this? For me it seams most FreeCAD developer developing for their own needs or for the company they work for. Or may be just for fun (ahh I am developing just for fun too.)

That is no contradiction.

The fact that you don't see how Werner and Yorik control what's going into FreeCAD doesn not mean it is not there. Have a look what's happening on github. In general they seem to have a completely different view from yours of what free software development is.

Initial not. Most developers start creating something what they miss. If what they created is help full other users start using it and then requests are coming for other workflows see as example this post and further https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 50#p296345

I am not saying that I am not seeing any control at all. In fact it is the opposite and I can see that on github all the requests for commits must pass a deep review from Werner and/or Yorik to be approved. The problem is that the reviews are always focused on low level issues (coding, best practice of C++ language, porting to python 3, porting to Qt5 ..).

I do not want to misknowledge the importance of these issues and I also recognize the great competence of Werner and Yorik on those topics.
Unfortunataly that is not enough to drive the development of a CAD product that aims to be considered at "production-level".
It would be like to pretend that a good proficiency in english language would sufficient to bee a good english lawyer.

But from the last replies of Bernd and Jee-Bee I am starting to think that the FreeCAD project is more like a joke than a project aimed to the developement of a CAD software. If it is so it means that I completely misunderstood the spirit of FreeCAD and you may go on playing with your funny joke.

It is just some other problem. Over the years we have seen dozens, may be hundreds of people telling us how FreeCAD has to be or how the future of FreeCAD has to be, but most of them never ever did contribute just one line of code or documentation or whatever. But we have seen hundreds of people just miss something develop this make a PR and thus improve FreeCAD.
