Request Hole feature: hole along edge

Post by Vincent B »

Holing along an edge should be useful. Like a subtractive pipe, it should be easy to rule the depth and angle of the hole.
The option could be located after "depth" by ticking and indicate the edge.

We have talked about something like this: having some standard sections for sweeps like circle, square, triangle, but this might be something for an addon macro

Maybe you need a special feature, go into Macros_recipes and Code_snippets, Topological_data_scripting.
My macros on Gist.github here complete macros Wiki and forum.

I don't understand the point of this request (which, as I say all the time, should not be posted in a development forum but in Open discussion, as clearly stated by its description).

A Hole requires a sketch; since you have to create a sketch anyway, you can create it normal to the edge.

It happens all the time. Also help request (even in the help topics place) about materials, FEM or BIM are moved to that developement sections. So it is also partly how (at least some of the) moderators do their task...

Yes, but hole feature can't manage depth hole and depth counterbore/countersink from the edge of the part. It's starting from the sketch.

I've added top clearance in the branch mentioned here: issue #3893
