Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Postby saso » Fri Aug 02, 2019 7:02 pm

This is just a short introduction and a reference to the topic of Model-Based Systems Engineering, if others have more knowledge and experience in it or have some ideas for possible workflows with FreeCAD please share...

INCOSE defines MBSE as “Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is the formalized application of modeling to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities beginning in the conceptual design phase and continuing throughout development and later life cycle phases.” In practice, System Markup Language (SysML) based models have gained the most prevelance in MBSE application. These models are system relationship models and are useful for showing relationships among system functions, requirements, developers, and users.

pity that the videos are from some proprietary software tooling :(

quite currious if these tools are able to connect with some (open source) CAD/ PLM software...

It is meant to help understand and show the workflows and possibilities with it... If you know some examples with open source tools please share.

it shows the workflows of some specific tooling...
Best case it would be interesting as some open source tools work together to create comparable results.
for example the following situation would be great.
eclipse papyrus/ python + scilab + FC / brlcad/ qcad/librecad/ ... + FCFem/ calculix/ OOFem/ OpenFoam/ Elmer/ ngsolve/ ... + libreoffice/ openoffice /latex/ ... + ... + ...

For some part of the tools needed FC is not there yet... so somebody has to step in because he/she thinks it would be great to add it...

just a small update, openmodelica seems to already have a plugin for papyrus https://www.openmodelica.org/?id=139:modelicaml
