FOSDEM 2020 anyone?

Post by yorik »

I think I'll be able to go to FOSDEM next year (february 1st nd 2nd in brussels), I'll submit a talk proposal...
@sliptonic is also interested in going (not sure if that will work yet)

Anyone else would be interested in going? That would be a great opportunity to make a kind of FreeCAD event. This year they even have space for satellite events: https://fosdem.org/2020/fringe/

I plan a EU trip in early February, so I'll consider  . Brussels isn't particularly convenient, though.

They just told me that the Brussels Hackspace is offering free space for devs to meetup the week prior to FOSDEM (I think a few days after as well). If we want to foment something, we'll have a home :)

Is it possible to (or worth) reaching out to our sister projects under the BRL-CAD GSOC umbrella? I mean if we're going to "foment" something, go big!

Amazing Kurt!
This is really beginning to look like a major FreeCAD event.

Anyone else? Come, folks!

I'll reach out to Sean from BRLCAD and the other CADs too.

Great! Tell us if yes and who, it would be great to meet.

We will have a FreeCAD talk, that we'll give all 3 (sliptonic, kkremitzki and me) together: https://fosdem.org/2020/schedule/event/freecad/
And we're trying to foment a kind of side event too. At least have a room where we can sit and chat.
I'm making some merch too, stickers that I'll bring together, and t-shirts that I'm thinking of printing in Brussels prior to the event. I'll also share the file here so anyone can print one at home too.
