And the 30,000 CHF (about 27,000 EUR) of fund raised in less than a week is a great goal that I would like to see also for FreeCAD...
This is great. The problem is, as Yorik has explained in the past, who is going to organize it? Who is going to receive the money? What is going to be done with it? FreeCAD is notable in that it is extremely loosely organized. Yorik himself has said that he kinda doesn't want to do that admin work.
Luzpaz seems to do a lot of organising? Is organising essential? Why not an extra developer on a patron. Fixed term and then the community vote on extension, hopefully coming up with next round of funding.

Organization is essential. There are many things which are loosely organized and work okay, like bug reports, packaging, forum clean-up, etc., but once you start accepting thousands of dollars, euros, francs, etc., then people will want to see some concrete results. What happens if after a year a particular feature you wanted is not included? How do we measure success? We have to have realistic expectations and goals as well, no programmer is an expert in everything. They may need significant time to learn the codebase.

If you can get a developer to dedicate fully to this, then go ahead, start a fundraiser. As I said, somebody has to be interested enough, with enough time and money to kickstart and manage this.
