Thank you very much for the OpenGL hint. That seems to be indeed a showstopper for the current 16" display (They will cope with it, but hopefully many others will follow.). And that's what I wanted to have for the modeling .
If that's really the case I cannot justify buying a Mac at all (FreeCAD was a major argument), Apple is going to loose another customer to the Linux world. They will cope with it, but hopefully many others will follow.

Which MacBook pro would you recommend for FreeCAD usage:
1) 2,6 GHz Intel i7 Hexa-Core
2) 2,3 GHz Intel i9 8 core

Don't know if you run already OSX 10.15 Catalina... But that is at this moment much bigger issue for the new mac book pro's. I had to upgrade afer 11 years. and i use now still my old macbook because of i have serval 32 bit programs that i'm unable to run on my new macbook pro!

FreeCAD runs for me(at least now). I didn't find any problems but is is a short test. but I'm unable to compare to a recent machine since my former Mac book was from 2008.
