On a serious note, am I able to change the background in the 3d window from the GUI? I like ejnaren'sejnaren's mesh backgrounds with the holes for some things over the color gradient background - I changed the color slightly and tried it as my desktop background.

OS: Windows XP
Platform: 32-bit
Version: 0.14.2370 (Git)
Branch: master
Hash: a836759ebd91404954a778ff8885e152611576e1
Python version: 2.6.2
Qt version: 4.5.2
Coin version: 3.1.0
SoQt version: 1.4.1
OCC version: 6.5.1

And, sometimes I just can't leave things alone:

With many thanks to wmayer for his help with my feature request, which turned out to be unnecessary, I now know how to manage the background images for FreeCAD's main window one uses with style sheets.

As discussed back a page on this thread, the main window can be themed/decorated with your image of choice, though when moving the combo view or consoles for a wider view, the background image gets covered up and larger images won't show completely, smaller images won't cover, etc.

The fix for this is a simple one. In the stylesheet you can set for a "scaled" image by -

Code: Select all

QMdiArea[showImage="true"]
{
    border-image: url(/full/path/to/image.jpg);
}

The image can also be justified (pinned) to a corner with -

Code: Select all

{
    background-image: url(/full/path/to/image.jpg);
    background-position: bottom right;
}
background-position: top right; and background-position: bottom left; work as well, and just leave out for the default of top left.

Thought I'd pass this on and get it posted here for future reference, as this is the thread the had the original info about stylsheets.
