FreeCAD modern look script

Postby dulouie » Wed Nov 11, 2020 10:24 pm

Hi guys,
today I want to show you my project to give FreeCAD a more modern look. I wrote a small python script that writes all parameters into your existing config. Mainly the colors and the general look are changed, the interaction of the colors was important to me. The script also changes some other parameters that are standard on modern computers. If you don't want them, you can simply delete them from the script.
Maybe someone is interested?

@dulouie
Nice Work. Are there some restrictions related to different OS or is it "One Size fits all"?

Look nice and clean. I'd love for an easier way to change, save and share user configs, so that the user can be presented with different presets and choose the one that suits them.

Lol, no...context: I've been monitoring @dulouie's progress for some time on github (over a year). So it's not a knee-jerk response.

We haggled for months on the forum over the FreeCAD logo. Same for icon colors.

Now you are proposing a large change just before a release. An unnecessary cosmetic change that most users have not even seen. Who knows how this new theme might work on all platforms or with various style sheets? Are there hidden bugs with various core libraries? Tablets vs. multi-monitor workstations?

Get a grip.

I think there is a misunderstanding, perhaps because I wasn't specific enough. Though I would hope you consider toning down the aggressive rhetoric.

I'm asking that this be available as a FreeCAD theme (just like chrismettal's behave dark theme that was merged recently).

Sorry, I probably misinterpreted your comment to add to "FreeCAD main".

If that was not intended to mean a radical new look right before a release then I apologize for my excitement. :oops:
