[Proposal] Merge Draft WB and Sketcher WB
... this because both have 2D and 3D features that are needed in all other's workbench, and recently was requested in GSoC 2021 post.
... could be named "Drafter WB"
edit: some features like parametric constraints and snap tools with 3D lines.

Re: [Proposal] Merge Draft WB and Sketcher WB
i would think it makes sense to be able to use draft functions in the sketcher wb.
Re: [Proposal] Merge Draft WB and Sketcher WB
Makes no sense to me. Sketcher has no 3D feature. And drafting and sketching are really 2 different workflows.

Just porting the snap function to Sketcher doesn't work as is. It has to be linked to constraint equations that will feed the solver that sketcher relies on. Really these are 2 very different worlds.

Re: [Proposal] Merge Draft WB and Sketcher WB
I would suggest the other way around: bring linking/connection and some rudimentary constraints to the Draft WB.
That would be super powerful !
Actually, I really miss this possibility. I don't know, but mabye remove the forced "work on plane" as well? Have it as an option instead?

I can well imagine. If you invest time and effort, this is, in my opinion, more sensible than e.g. for ray tracing, shadows, textures etc. because the freecad sketcher is often criticized and it is a basic cad function.

if that can be done more easily or is better, I am also for it.
Re: [Proposal] Merge Draft WB and Sketcher WB
Let's not be too vague. What is missing regarding snap on sketcher ? It already can snap to all points by auto-adding coincident constraint.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:15 am I can well imagine.
