I cannot confirm. The attached step was created in FreeCAD with two red sides and it import with the same colors.

I'm with @chrisb on this, 0.19.1 exports and imports colours fine. I also brought a STEP file that I exported with colours on certain faces from 2017 and it worked as expected.

The thing that stood out to me looking at the bug report is the reporter had both 0.18.x and 0.19.1 open together and therefore highly likely to be using the same config files. This is a big no-no now that so much has changed between the versions, I've even started with a set of 0.20 config files so I know for certain there's no 'pollution' across when I'm opening old files in the version they were built with.

Hi,

I installed V0.19 on another computer before I replaced my version. That computer never had FreeCad installed on it. I completely uninstalled my version 0.18, did a reboot and then installed V0.19 on it. I have the same problem with no colors showing.

I was able to see your cube with the 2 red sides without any problem.

I included the step file that I showed in my initial message.

It's yellow here. It must be your import options.

Disable in the import options "Enable STEP compound merge".

That took care of it!

Thanks! Working great now. Glad to see that custom colors are now saved in the palette once again.
