I find myself at the begining of a sequence of projects that will involve surface models and submersibles. Does this workbench deal exclusively with surface vessels?
While I appreciate the whole topic of ship design is a lifetime persuit are there recommended primer text books or online resources that would help develop an introductory understanding of the key principles that are encountered in a basic hull design?
I'm coming from a mechanical engineering perspective and am already reasonably fluent in FreeCAD. I am not looking to design an optimal solution, but hoping to avoid known pitfalls that would result in my proof of concept having the hydronamics of a brick and stability of an upturned pendulum!
Hi, thanks for the effort made on this project, it was greatly appreciated when I discovered it. However I'm struggling a littøe bit with the process of making a new ship following the available tutorial, as one of the tools used in the tutorial has been removed, citing redundancy i believe.
Could I trouble you to explain in short terms how to go about adding a mesh and creating a specific ship instance from it?
Hello,
I'm with a new computer, which allows me to use the latest version of FreeCad V0.20.1, which I find spectacular. Uff much progress since V 16!!! only that it is much more complicated to start with.
I'm going to the specific point of my post: Ship workbench:
Why doesn't appear the tool "Plots the ship hull outline draw" which I have in my previous version? (Lines drawing)
Could you tell me how to install it manually if it is no longer part of the new version?
This tool was very useful!
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I tried and the result is that the module of Lines drawing doesn't included. Also I went to the : <user name/AppData/Roaming/Mod/Ship/freecad/ship/shipOutlineDraw > does not exist.
