Sketchup Orbit Style? (or other custom orbit styles)

Not exactly asking for help but I'm wondering what goes into adding a new orbit style to FreeCAD.

Is there an accessible configuration place in perhaps the source code that might allow someone to add their own orbit style?

The reason is that I'm very used to sketchup. I'm also wondering if one of the other orbit styles would be similar to Sketchup's so I'm about to try them side by side to see for myself.

I'm mainly referring to the orbit function (style/behavior) of mouse navigation, but yes. I will read that document you linked thank you.

in Sketchup, holding the middle mouse button rotates the view, but if you hold the button and move the mouse left and right, the object appears to rotate, and if you hold the button and move up and down, the view shifts as if the object is rolling away or toward you.

I still haven't tested all of FreeCAD's orbit styles, but I will report if I find something that is analogous to that of Sketchup.

FYI: Might also want to have a look at Preferences>Display Navigation.

Orbit style (Trackball works for me)
Rotation mode (Object center works for me)

I believe I've cracked the code more or less (haven't tried them all)
but the following settings behave the way I believe Sketchup does:

3D Navigation: Blender
Orbit Style: Turntable
Rotation mde: Object center
