No, just people we trust.
So you can't deal with a previous version of a file? Why is there no PLM? Is there a reason for it or did it just not happened yet.
About Nim. Latest Release 2.0.2. Here is Nim in 100 seconds and a Nim package. There are Qt and OCCT packages.

Of course we can. Since years is FreeCAD backwards compatible.
Why is there no PLM?
Recently we founded the FPA, but it is neither planned nor possible to dictate the development from there.

What is FPA? I have a couple of ideas about a PLM.

FPA FreeCAD Project Association

You might want to have a look at the announcement and subsequent discussion on the association. The scope of the association may not meet you expectations.

@dmarco, can you please give me a link? I can't find it.

Edit: I found it. Now I know a bit more.

I don't think he's talking about a governing body, PLM is a feature. Think version control like git but for CAD files. So the FPA has nothing to do with PLM really.

Because nobody has coded it.

Regarding funding nobody is saying it wouldn't be good to have more funding, but that funding is not here so what do you expect? People work on FreeCAD on their spare time on the topics that attract their attention. Gathering and managing funds is not easy or fun so there probably aren't many people willing to do it (and with the time to do it).

If we get FreeCAD even more optimized from the outcome of this discussion, that would be ideal. Also there is a need for benchmarking CAD. I recall reading how the Phoronix folk were interested in a Benchmarking algorithm they could run on their system to test FLOSS CAD against each other and industry CAD. So lets talk more in that direction...? Agreed?

 How about inviting him for a paid internship on the FreeCAD funding front? 8-)

sorry to been late here...
I think we should add:
- STEP import/export quality test
- loading time in importing large STEP files
- GUI reactivity when handling large files
We already a thread on this subject some time ago

note that tessellation settings can have a big impact on performance for some operations, if comparing both should have similar tessellation settings.
