Seeing frim a novice (I've started to use Sketcher having avoided it for some time).
Naming "coincident" a constraint seem obvious that the element involved has to share same position in the space.
"point on object" is somewhat obscure so an explanation is needed.
But if you make a unique tool "a better name" to incorporate both concepts maybe will be better at least to avoid confusion between versions.
What name could be a decent descriptive name?

Hmm...are you sure of that? FreeCAD PoP has an attribute that is set true and points to the other vertex. (I.e. V1 and V2 are unique) I think Solidworks "merge points" actually makes a single point. During my research last night they almost all defined coincident constraint with text such as
"Attach a vertex to another object (vertex, line, or arc)"
Also, I made a mistake in my earlier meta-analysis (now updated), it appears that Solidworks has a "merge points" constraint which is the same as FreeCAD's Coincident (aka point on point) constraint.
(Note: My Solidworks definitely from memory...I may even be wrong about what FreeCAD does)

This is the main constraint toolbar I see. (I do not believe I have attempted to make any changes.)
I use all of those routinely with the exception of Snell's Law (never), Block (never), and Lock (rarely).
There are dozens of other icons for arrays, weird shapes, splines, splits, extends, etc, etc.
Why pick on the constraints, which are at the core of sketcher functionality?

Seems to be an awful lot of that in the Sketcher discussion over the past year or so.

I do not know what more to say.
They are not the same at all. What if I want to constrain one degree of freedom and I click near a vertex of some sort? How does FreeCAD decide if I want to constrain one degree or two degrees?
Yes, there can be selection radii, and I can be trained to be more careful.
But why???
It works perfectly now, and you want to add more complexity for the user, not less.
It is pointless for me to continue. I will just repeat the same arguments. Just like this entire topic. Already hashed out and resurrected from the dead.
