Re: what libs do i need from opencascade?
It depends!
If you whant to compile (on Windows) the LibPack in our download area will do the job.
It include a strip down CasCade.
If you just whant to work with FreeCAD use the Installer or Packages for Linux.
But yes - CAD programs are very very heavy and big programs....

Re: what libs do i need from opencascade?
i asked this question because the opensuse linux package enforces me to install whole opencascade as a dependency. However if cascade can be "stripped down" on windows it should be possible also on linux...

Re: what libs do i need from opencascade?
On debian the opencascade package is split into several parts, but the parts needed for freecad are small, around 60Mb I think). Most part of the 500Mb are actually development files, not needed just for running opencascade-based apps...
Maybe you can try to talk to the people who maintain the opensuse opencascade package?
