what libs do i need from opencascade?

do i really need to install whole ~500MB opencascade to get freecad working (i mean binary version)?

It depends!

If you whant to compile (on Windows) the LibPack in our download area will do the job.
It include a strip down CasCade.

If you just whant to work with FreeCAD use the Installer or Packages for Linux.

But yes - CAD programs are very very heavy and big programs....

i asked this question because the opensuse linux package enforces me to install whole opencascade as a dependency. However if cascade can be "stripped down" on windows it should be possible also on linux...

On debian the opencascade package is split into several parts, but the parts needed for freecad are small, around 60Mb I think). Most part of the 500Mb are actually development files, not needed just for running opencascade-based apps...
Maybe you can try to talk to the people who maintain the opensuse opencascade package?
