It depends on the "board style" found in the user preferences of the forum, I use "prosilver" but when trying other some has a similar problem.)

Maybe it depends on the distribution or is related to some interaction with browser.

I use linux and firefox.

There is a similar behaviour when dealing with emojii, maybe it is related.

Thank you for stating that, I had the same problem as the OP. I've been trying to figure out how to mark forums read with one click instead of having to navigate into every sub-forum and "mark as read". prosilver has it at the toplevel of the main board. Thank you!

FreeCAD style has it in the Tools menu.
