@yorik can the FPA somehow help with funding stuff like this? what's the process for using the bounty source money for example?

Yorik is AFK maybe for another week or 2. Something about a trip.

Now we have talked quite a while, here comes the next level:
@jnxd, I offer $200 for point on B-spline.

Perhaps. I imagine eventually the FPA can have funds especially set aside for projects. For the FPA to be financially sustainable, though, [such] projects should be able to rally further sponsorships.

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Depends on the cost. If no cost, then no income is fine.

I actually meant "such projects should...". Thanks for pointing out.

I updated the text of stage 2 to make clear that Bezier curve implementation is not the primary objective but a potential side benefit. Original text was as follows:
Stage 2

Once stage 1 is done, I plan to start working on implementing Bezier curves. The primary difference between Bezier curves and B-splines is that B-splines are piecewise Bezier curves. This I expect will make making point on object constraints easier at least on Bezier curves, and thus parts of B-splines.

Stage 2 Duration: Implementing Bezier curves themselves sounds relatively straightforward, but a lot of changes will need to be done, so I expect it to take at least 1-2 months.

FUNDING UPDATE: 23 AUGUST 2022

It has been one week since I released the fundraiser, so I'd like to share the current sponsorship.

Since the release, I have received:

Github:
One time: $45
Monthly: $7

Liberapay: $0

Additional:
Pledged: $200 (upon progress towards stage 2)

All in all, this amounts to up to ~$266/$3000 towards this project, assuming it takes 3 months to complete.

It raises optimism, but the rest of the goal can only be achieved if this fundraiser stays on the radar and reaches enough people. I have been posting about this on Twitter and LinkedIn to reach my own contacts (and possibly have it shared outside as well), but I imagine there are more places I to advertize. Some such places may be the non-English forums on this very site. Could I ask people active there to put a word out, since I am not myself versed in any of those languages? Thank you very much.
