Can you provide a lengthier explanation of the differences between the WorkFeature workbench and the WorkFeature macro?

As far as I get, the macro is older, and the workbench is newer. The workbench will eventually have all the functionality of the macro so the macro will become obsolete, is this the case?

Don't forget to update the documentation so that this is clear for new users. External workbenches.

Hello,
That topic deserves a comment every 3 years ;-)

I was annoyed about the icons, so I corrected the code (at least for Windows) so they are back visible.

Here are the files compressed in a 7zip archive that you'll need to decompress in your c:\Users\<yourname>\Appdata\Roaming\Freecad\Mod\workfeature\ folder.
workfeature_icons.7z
files appended for showing their icons
(11.84 KiB) Downloaded 14 times
Then restart freecad, and the icons will be back.

BTW, I use that workbench for setting a center point that is still visible in the path WB job configuration. That point is used as origin for all the carve process.

thanks for your contribution

Maybe you need a special feature, go into Macros_recipes and Code_snippets, Topological_data_scripting.

Thanks mario52,

Your solution is more elegant than mine so I reverted it to yours.

About path, if I want to set the origin at the center of the stock then in the path job, I select the stock in the tree, the edge in the view then press the center line point icon

Then open the job configuration, and you can select the point for defining your origin

Your paths will be defined from this origin

Additional info: You need to put the .py-files from the downloaded folder directly into the c:\Users\<yourname>\Appdata\Roaming\Freecad\Mod\workfeature\ folder and replace the files there.

You may NOT copy the whole \workfeature_icons folder into the above folder. Just the files!
